MicroSoft Flight Simulator 2002 Instrument Rating Checkride
Home
1.Remark:

It is stated in the "ABOUT FLGHT" of the Flight Briefing that you must enter 140 degrees holding pattern at SEA VOR. If you follow this instruction, you will be failed. One of the measures to pass this bug is stated below.
Broadly, the instructions by the exminer are too early. A few insructions of altitude are simply wrong. A few instructions are not understandable. It is recommended not to rely on the examiner's instruction.

2.Tips:

You have to strictly keep the allowance of altitude, course and heading. You do not need to be strict about the speed.

3.Underground Tips:

It is instructed that the autopilot will be desabled after the exminer's initial briefing is completed. However, you can enable it by operating any switches of the autopilot during the briefing. Of course, you must not be comfortable with the certification obtained by this "trick". Notwithstanding it, I, personally, think this is useful to see the whole picture of the checkride before you try it manually.

Opening the examination, the plane is flying on course 60 degrees.
Neglect the examiner's briefing, and do the followings immediately:
(1) Open the radio stack, and set NAV1 to 116.8; and
(1) Set VOR OBS to 338 degrees.

Align to SEA VOR radial 338 degrees. Do not wait the completion of the examiner's briefing.

The panel should be like the next photo after the alignment is completed.

1.VOR Approach

Do the VOR approach to Seattle Tacoma International 16L/R. Fly on SEA VOR 338 radial. Descend as follows:
DME 17.0: 5000ft
DME 11.0: 3000ft
DME 4.3: 1600ft
SEA VOR: 840ft(Remark)

Remark: 900ft is still OK in case you fly by autopilot.

2.Go Around

The examiner will instruct you to go around next to the SEA VOR. Climb to 2100ft at the rate of 500ft/min or more through SEA VOR radial 339 degrees toward PARKK NDB (DME 5.6).

1.From PARKK to SEA VORまで

After you see the outer marker lamp is lit at PARKK, make tear drop turn to left back to SEA VOR climbing to 3000ft. Heading 155 to 165 degrees must be appropriate. Use VOR needle to keep the precise course to SEA VOR.

2.SEA VOR to SEA VOR

After passing SEA VOR, cruise straight ahead one minutes. Use stopwatch. Make tear drop turn to left and align SEA VOR radial 140 degrees (OBS 320 degrees). Go back to SEA VOR.

1.SEA VOR to NOLLA NDB

After passing SEA VOR again, set ADF to NOLLA NDB, make slight right turn towards the NDB. Descend to 2200ft.

2.NOLLA NDB to Approach

After passing NOLLA NDB, turn left to course 310 degrees, go straight one minutes. During the one minute, set NAV 1 to 110.9. Turn left to course 265 degrees.

1.Standard Procedure Turn to Landing

Fly 1 minute at course 265 degrees. Then, make 180 degrees turn to right and fly at course 085 degrees. Intercept ILS, and make landing.

Brake and stop.
